In addition, spacers are used to fine tune the engine's performance. A 4-hole spacer will generally improve part throttle operation and help build low and midrange torque, while an open spacer increases plenum volume, adding midrange and top end horsepower. Tapered spacers can offer the best of both worlds-increasing torque, horsepower, and acceleration over the whole RPM range.
